12 day/11 night- Northern Circuit

DAY 1 Arrival: Arrive at JRO airport and be welcomed by your tour guide. He will take you to the lodge in Arusha for your first night in Tanzania.

DAY 2 Tarangire National Park: After relaxing for the morning, depart to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route and a short game drive upon entering the park. Dinner and overnight at the private camp.

DAY 3 Tarangire National Park: Tarangire is a great park for diverse flora and fauna, including the famous Baobab tree. This tree is 90% water which the elephants take advantage of in the dry season. You will have a full day game drive at Tarangire National Park with your choice of a picnic lunch in the park or lunch at your private camp.

DAY 4 Lake Manyara: After breakfast head into the park for a half day safari. Drive to Lake Manyara for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 5 Lake Manyara: Head out with a picnic lunch to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive. Here you may see the famous tree-climbing lion among the woodlands, swamps, and grasslands that make up the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

DAY 6 Ngorongoro Crater: In the morning drive to Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch along the way. Upon arrival you will have the rest of the day for a game drive to explore the world’s largest caldera. At 24 kilometers in diameter, the crater is home to a diverse group of animals, yet is small enough to provide an intimate view of predators and prey in their natural environment. Back at the private camp relax and watch the sunset before dinner is served.

DAY 7 Empakai Crater: Empakai Crater is close enough to Ngorongoro for a half day hike without moving campsites. This crater is usually foggy at the top but upon descent you will see the lush plant life it supports. The lake at the bottom of the crater is used by the animals before heading into the hills for food. After a hike, you will have a restful afternoon back at camp with lunch, dinner and an evening campfire.

DAY 8 Olduvai Gorge and Maasai Village: In the morning you have the opportunity to enjoy a unique visit to a Maasai Village and experience the historical culture of Tanzania. From the village head to Olduvai Gorge where Dr. Richard Leaky and his wife discovered early signs of Homo Erectus. The famous couple established a museum that walks you through the history of human development. Head back to Ngorongoro for a night at the lodge.

DAY 9 Serengeti: After breakfast at the lodge drive to the Serengeti with a picnic lunch en-route. Take a short game drive upon entering the park before heading to your camp for the night.

DAY 10 &11 Serengeti: The Serengeti is said to contain over 3 million large mammals and nearly 500 species of birds. It is one of the best places to view the famous zebra and wildebeest migration during the months of May and June. The park also boasts the “Big 5″ (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard, and buffalo). Your two days will be spent touring the vast park with lunch at your camp one day and a picnic lunch the other. The Serengeti also is home to thousands of crocodiles, which you will be able to view from a safe distance. Enjoy beautiful sunsets by the campfire followed by dinner prepared by the chef.

DAY 12 Return: This morning explore the Serengeti one more time before heading to the Seronera airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. You may enjoy lunch in town along with an opportunity to tour the town and shop at the local stores. In the evening you will be transfered back to JRO (KIA) in time for your flight home.
